The Metrostav handy bike marathon is a team relay of four or eight mixed teams through all 14 regions. 
Women and men, able-bodied and somehow handicapped people, all together ride an amazing cycling journey for sport, across our beautiful republic.

Those who have already participated in our marathon will tell you: it’s something you simply have to experience.

The Metrostav Handy Cyklo Maraton is for everyone who loves cycling, enjoys movement and sport, and also for those who want to make a change in their life.
The route leads from Prague, across all 14 regions, and back again over the course of five days. It will challenge both your strengths and your limits.
Teams are open to everyone – women and men, amateurs, enthusiasts, professionals, and even legends.

The goal of our project is to connect people and open up cycling and sport to all.
Together we prove that when we create a functioning team, we can overcome anything.

  • In 2025, MHCM will feature two main themes: sports centers and cycling paths. In each region, there will be two mandatory checkpoints – one sports center and one cycling path. For the longer route, there will be three additional loops around selected sports centers. These loops will have predefined routes and will be mandatory for the 2222 km version of the marathon.

    As always, the popular Climber’s Bonus and Team Time Trial will be part of the race. New complementary sports activities will also be introduced.

By creating these loops, we now have the opportunity to offer two route lengths for the 13th edition of the MHCM:

  • 2222 km
    The first 2222 km-long route is the classic MHCM route as we all know it. It includes all checkpoints and all loops around sports centers.

  • 1700 km
    The second, shorter 1700 km route includes all checkpoints but skips the loops around sports centers. This route is intended for those who want to try something new, don't have experienced cyclists on their team, or want to include a greater number of handcyclists. 

You can take part
in one of two categories:

  • Handy
    The first category is Handy, which most people are already familiar with. Each team must include at least one cyclist with any type of disability. Additionally, every team has its own patron – a person with a disability for whom they are riding. 

  • Klasik 
    In the Klasik category, there is no cyclist with a disability on the team. However, every team must still have a patron – a person with a disability for whom they are riding. This category is intended for teams who are unable to find a cyclist with a disability but still want to participate in the event.

  • In every region, shorter routes along bike paths will be prepared, and anyone can join the project without prior registration. You can take part in the Ride of Hope on your own, with family, or with friends. Simply join us at a designated starting point and set off with us. Event Concept

We’re riding 2222/1700 km around the entire country, and each team chooses its own route between the checkpoints. There is a time limit of 111 hours to complete the entire route.

Information for participants

  • The participation fee is paid only by the teams (see details below). Spectators, fans, and friends are welcome free of charge.

  • At both the start and finish locations, refreshments will be available for purchase, and accessible toilets will be provided.

  • Parking is available in nearby public parking areas.

  • At the finish, a children’s program will be prepared. At other locations, children are welcome when accompanied by parents.

    Peloton of Hope
    A short cycling experience open to the general public, with no prior registration needed. In each region, a short route along a cycle path will be available, where you can meet regional representatives, local cycling enthusiasts, and families on bikes.

13th Edition

Form a team of eight or four members.

Remember – the bigger the team, the fewer kilometers each cyclist has to ride.

Choose the category that suits you best: 

2222 km, 1700 km, Peloton of Hope, Handy/Classic

Each team selects a patron – a person or an organization they will ride the marathon for. 

The support is primarily moral, but many teams try to help their patron in other ways as well. How you do it is up to you. For example, by giving your time and involving the patron in the event, or by organizing a fundraiser to support them.

  • The route runs entirely within the Czech Republic, covering all 14 regions.
  • This year’s mandatory checkpoints include cycle paths and recreational centres. The route is not pre-defined – each team maps out its own journey. The goal is to connect all designated checkpoints along the way.
  • Each team receives a mobile phone at the start – this phone serves as a relay baton passed between cyclists during the race. It uses our custom GPS tracking app (111) to continuously record the team’s location and display it live on the event website. Thanks to this, fans and supporters can follow teams in real time, day and night.
  • Along the route, several Base Camps will be available – spaces for resting, meeting other cyclists, reconnecting with friends and fans, or simply recharging.
  • Timed segments, known as "prémies", will be placed on safe stretches of the route. You’ll find more details in the official event guide.
  • The GPS tracking phone (MOTO G POWER 7) is provided by the organisers and is preloaded with our 111 tracking app.
    When the phone passes close to a designated checkpoint, it automatically records the team’s passage on the official event map.
  • It’s About the Experience, Not the Rankings

    The Metrostav Handy Cyklo Maraton isn’t just a race – it’s about joy, movement, and shared experience.
    At the final ceremony, all teams that complete the course within the time limit will be recognised.

I'm interested in the marathon, but I have no experience with it.

  • It’s understandable to feel uncertain about such a large event. Will we manage it? Can we put together the right team? How many support vehicles do we need, and what kind of support crew? And so much more. Rest assured, everyone has faced these same questions.
  • If you're considering participating, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We’re happy to offer a personal, online, or phone consultation to answer all your questions and guide you on what to watch out for, what to avoid, and what not to forget.
    You’ll see that this project is not as complicated as it may seem.


2,222 | 1,700 km nonstop around the Czech Republic sounds way too challenging. We couldn't handle that.

  • Believe us, you can handle it. The marathon is primarily ridden by amateur cyclists, many of them hobby riders. The key is to realize that it's a team relay. A bit of simple math shows that the 2,222 km route can be divided among up to eight team members. That means each person covers about 280 km over five days — an average of just 56 km in 24 hours.
    You can make similar calculations for the shorter 1,700 km route. Suddenly, it doesn't sound so intimidating. Of course, during the event, you're also moving from place to place and dealing with various logistics. Yes, this project is demanding. But it truly is designed for everyone.

I don’t know how to register and pay the entry fee.

  • One representative registers the entire team. The team is not officially registered upon filling out the form, but only after the organizer approves the application and the entry fee is paid.
    By submitting the registration form, you are applying to take part in the Metrostav Handy Cyklo Maraton project. We will contact you using the information you provide and send you further details, including payment instructions for the entry fee.
    Simply put — we’ll stay in touch and work everything out together.

Entry Fee 

The entry fee for the project is divided into two categories:
Commercial and Non-Commercial Team.
 
Non-Commercial Team
This refers to a team that does not compete under the name and logo of a company. 

Commercial Team
This refers to a team that competes under the name and/or logo of the company it represents.

The entry fee includes:

1. A loaner mobile phone with data and an app to track your location on the company map
2. Original metal commemorative medals for all cyclists in the team
3. A route of the event with interesting places along the route and a PDF version of the event's announcement
4. Decals for the two accompanying cars
5. Stickers for the cyclists' bikes
6. Refreshments at the start, in the three base camps of the project
7. Space for camping in the base camps
8. Stickers and small gifts for the trip
9. Prizes for time trial winners, champagne at the finish line, etc.
10. All-expenses-paid Subterra Open Weekend experience for team patrons

  • As part of the commercial entry fee, your company’s logo can be associated with the project. The logo will be displayed as your team’s icon in the team presentation on the website and on the interactive map where fans can track the teams’ movements.
